Happy Birthday Maryuri!

Sometime in the last two weeks Maryuri decided that I was her 'mommy' and has called me that ever since. It is adorable. So anyways, today is my 'daughters' 4th birthday. :)  As of right now, she is the baby of the house but she is growing up quick.

Visitation

Posted by Sam

This morning was visitation for all the kids here at Casa. We take them to Casitas Kennedy, the state run orphanage, and their parents are allowed to come in and see their kids for two hours. This is always rough on the kids, especially on the kids' moms who don't show up. Today Cindy and Maryuri's mom, and Brayan's mom came.  Fernando, Katty, Monica, and Doris' mom didn't show up, and it broke Fernando's heart. He had been talking about visitation for a while now, and he couldn't wait to see his momma, and she didn't show up. He asked over and over where his mommy was..and we honestly had no answers for him. All we could say is that we were sorry and that we loved him. But the hurt and disappointment in his eyes was enough to make you heart melt and your eyes fill up with tears.

Days like today my heart screams for justice. I would do anything in this world to take the pain away from these kids here at Casa. There are so many things in this country that just don't make sense. So many things that I cannot even begin to fathom. Things that should never happen, and wouldn't happen if the rest of the world would stop sitting around watching as the world around them dies.

We bow our Hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast down our idols
So give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
And God let us be
A generation that seeks
That seeks your face

Wait for your rain

Posted by Sam

I cannot believe I'm this dirty
I'm ashamed to even ask to be clean '
Cause I can't think of anyone less worthy
I have nothing to offer or to bring

I throw myself on Your mercy
I throw myself at Your feet
I throw my filth on the grace of One who's beauty is beyond me
And I wait
And I wait

I'm not even sure how I got here
Wondered to this darkness from Your light I
still remember walking in the garden with You
Now I'm just stumbling through this night

I throw myself on Your mercy
I throw myself at Your feet
I throw my filth on the grace of One who's beauty is beyond me
And I wait
And I wait

I wait for Your rain to fall
The waves of Your grace wash over me
I wait for Your rain to fall
Strange how forgiveness comes so easily
When I call Your name
And wait for Your rain

Lord, this desert is killing me
My throat's dry from screaming Your name
I want to come home but the sands of time surround me
The dirt's finally covered my shame

So I throw myself on Your mercy
I throw myself at Your feet
I throw my filth on the grace of One who's beauty is beyond me
And I wait

Visit with the boys

Posted by Sam

As many of you know, the five brothers that were the first to come to Casa went back to live with their parents a little over three weeks ago now. It has been rough on everyone.  The kids here at Casa ask about them all the time. They are missed terribly around this place.

Saturday morning we got the kids ready, loaded the bus and headed for Comayagua. We told the kids that we had a surprise, and they assumed that meant we were going into Tegucigalpa.  But we made the 2 hour journey and we stopped at the Wendy’s in Comayagua and took the kids inside while Jen and three others went to pick up the boys and their parents. When they returned we brought them inside to surprise the rest of the kids. They were pretty excited to see them again. We laughed and played with the boys, and loved on them as much as possible. We ate, and then had cake to celebrate two of the boys’ birthdays that were this past week. They all loved it. The kids had a blast. Fernando and Fransisco walked around with their arm around each other, and Brayan carried Antonio on his shoulders. It was adorable. It was so good to see Yovani again. I have missed him terribly, and it is so different around here without him. He was the first to capture my heart when I came to this country three years ago. He was the reason I came back. It was a good visit, pretty emotional for all of us, but it was good.
